Thousands of years ago humanity was nearly wiped out by ancient beasts of mysterious origin, leaving behind otherworldly obelisks as silent reminders of their near extinction.

In the present Jorunnd, a praetor of the Five Lands Alliance, is tasked with determining the origins of a drug that bears an resemblance to a substance used by an isolated nation.

His investigation takes a turn after discovering a connection between the drug and the ancient creatures, now resurfacing. As Jorunnd’s circumstances change he joins forces with an old friend, together navigating new dangers, facing the realization that survival is no longer enough. Humanity itself must adapt to confront the horrors of the past or risk being consumed by them once again.
